EXCLUSIVE: Victim speaks out after road rage incident involving deputy

WYNNEFIELD HEIGHTS (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an alleged incident of road rage along a stretch of Interstate 95 at the Vine Street Expressway that happened on Aug. 1.

Investigators say a 25-year old woman accused 37-year-old Brian McDonald of pointing a gun at her. What makes the allegations more shocking is that McDonald is a Camden County Sheriff's Deputy.

Action News spoke exclusively with the victim Thursday night.

The woman tells us she was driving southbound on I-95 around mile marker 22 when a man in a blue Dodge Dakota started honking at her like she was going to slow or something.

"And he just stuck his middle finger at me so I'm like I don't know what's going on," said the victim.

She said she shrugged her shoulders as if to say what gives, and the man began to scramble for something and brandished a handgun.

"He grabs the gun, and then he points it at me. He said, 'I'll shoot you.' I read his lips. 'I'll shoot you.'

"So then I slow down. I said, 'Oh.' So then I grabbed my phone. He was like speeding up as soon as he seen that," said the victim.

The victim says she managed to get the New Jersey tag number on the truck and called 911.

A warrant was issued, and McDonald, of Clementon, New Jersey, turned himself in on Wednesday.

The victim tells us she didn't know he was a deputy.

"I didn't know he was a cop. I thought he was just a regular guy, having some road rage or something," said the victim.

That makes the victim and her family all the more nervous.

"My nerves are so bad right now, like I don't know what to do. I fear for my life right now. I fear for my life," said the victim.

"I was so furious because this is a cop. This is somebody that's supposed to be protecting us," said the victim's mom.

Deputy McDonald has been suspended as officials investigate the alleged incident.

He is facing multiple charges including terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime and related offenses.

He has been released after posting 10 percent of his $25,000 bail.
