The most popular dog breeds in America
Move over Golden and Labrador retrievers, mixed breed dogs are having their day.
These two dog breeds have always been popular choices for individuals and families when choosing a friendly new canine companion. But according to recent data provided by pet medical insurer Trupanion, the most popular dog breed across all of the U.S. was actually mixed breeds, or dogs that have characteristics and lineage to many dog breeds.
The data then goes into most popular breeds by particular city. In New York, for example, the French Bulldog was the most popular breed of Big Apple bone diggers. In Los Angeles, the Terrier mix, Maltipoo, and Pomeranian were favorite breeds. Seattle though saw the Alaskan malamute as the favorite breed in the Emerald City.
