'Ready. Set. Pre-K': City unveils website, seeks citizens' feedback

WEST OAK LANE (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney continued his push for universal pre-K Friday with a visit to Lovie Lee's Stars of Tomorrow in the city's West Oak Lane section.

The program educates young children in a home environment.

Kenney toured the facility one day after he submitted his new budget proposal, which calls for a sugary drink tax in order to expand pre-K to tens of thousands of students.

"It's nice to be around these little children and see how wonderful they develop at an early age, and it just reinforces the fact that we have to expand our opportunities for pre-K in Philadelphia so all of our little children can get the same experience these kids are getting," said Mayor Kenney.

Kenney's office has also introduced a new website that invites parents and the public to express their support for pre-K expansion.

"I'm calling on parents, caregivers, pre-K providers, and the public to get involved in quality pre-K expansion," said Mayor Kenney. "Our administration is committed to increasing access to affordable, quality pre-K, but we can't do it alone. We need everyone's help."
