MAYFAIR (WPVI) -- Police are looking for the man who robbed and seriously injured a funeral director in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia.

The 66-year-old victim is now in the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

It happened on the funeral home property in the 4100 block of Decatur Street on Wednesday night.

According to the police report, the man was followed into the garage by the suspect.

That's where the suspect grabbed a circular saw and beat the victim with it. The attack left him with four broken ribs, a concussion and cuts to the face.

Police say after the brutal beating the suspect was able to take the victim's wallet and cell phone.

Next door neighbor Frank Burvaines says he moved to this neighborhood 40 some years ago, and it's just not the same today.

"Our neighborhood was never like that. I think it stinks. If a neighborhood changes it's because the people change," Burvaines said.

He says that's why he's made a trip to a local store for at least some kind of protection.

"I just went out this morning and got some - two cans of pepper spray," he said. "I've never done that."

The suspect is described as a black male, tall with a thin build and in his 30's. He has facial hair and was wearing a black shirt with large white stripes on the sleeves with red writing on it, long pants and blue sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia police.
