PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An armed man tried to rob a Philadelphia Taco Bell, but was tripped up by the cash register.
The robbery happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the restaurant located in the 4400 block of North Broad Street.
Surveillance video shows the man, wearing a hooded jacket with the hood covering his face, yelling at an employee to open the register while pointing a handgun.
Instead, the employee runs back into the kitchen to call for help.
That's when the suspect goes behind the counter and tries to open the register himself.
Video from overhead shows the man touch some buttons on the screen, but nothing happens.
After the register fails to open, the man runs out of the restaurant.
No injuries were reported.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia police.
