Officer hospitalized after crash in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer is in the hospital after being injured in a crash in South Philadelphia.

The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. Friday on I-76 eastbound near the Passyunk Avenue exit.

Officials say the officer's cruiser was apparently rear-ended by another car.

The officer suffered head and neck injuries, and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the striking car is being tested for DUI.
