Snow heightens festivities in Center City
Snow heightens festivities in Center City: Annie McCormick reports during Action News at 6 p.m. on December 9, 2017.

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Travelers on I-76 and other area highways saw snowfall covering the road, but that did not stop people from traveling into Center City Philadelphia.

"We love it," said Debbie Droke of Medford, N.J. "We wanted to come because it's snowing, and they're all here because of me. They wanted to see the Christmas Village."

The first snowfall of the season added a little extra something, depending on who you asked.

"I guess it makes it a little romantic," said Daniel Droke. "Before I wasn't really feeling Christmas, but after looking at the city and looking at the skyscrapers, it's awesome. And with the snow falling, it's magical."

One of the main attractions at Philadelphia City Hall, the enormous Christmas tree drew more crowds Saturday wanting to snap family photos.

"It's really pretty with all of the light bulbs on the snow," said Grace Mohr of Wallingford, Pa. "It's really cool."

However beautiful this first snowfall of the season was, we couldn't help but notice it also brought the first slush of the season to city sidewalks.

Workers at Dilworth Park were out shoveling all afternoon to ensure a festive and safe Saturday for everyone who visited.
