A Philadelphia Police officer, a taxi driver and a passenger were hurt after a police cruiser and cab collided in West Philadelphia.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia Police officer, a taxi driver and a passenger were hurt after a police cruiser and cab collided in West Philadelphia.

The crash happened before 3:00 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 56th Street and Haverford Avenue.

The officer was responding to a report of a person with a gun when the cruiser and cab collided.

The impact sent the taxi cab into the side of a corner building.

The 19th District police car sustained front-end damage.

The 51-year-old female officer was taken to Presbyterian Hospital with an injured hand and mild concussion.

The 49-year-old male taxi driver and 27-year-old male passenger suffered some bumps and bruises. They were also taken to Presbyterian.

All are expected to be okay.

There was no immediate word what led to the collision.

An investigation is underway.
