PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The School District of Philadelphia has announced that 52 schools will be dismissing early on Thursday, June 11, due to the forecasted extreme heat.
In a statement, the district says that while significant progress has been made toward ensuring schools are adequately cooled, there are still several schools with inadequate cooling systems.
Early childhood programs located within the affected schools will also be dismissed early.
All in-person after-school activities at these 52 schools are canceled for Thursday.
