Pa. food pantry offers grocery-store-style experience to neighborhood

AMBLER, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- A 52-year-strong food pantry in Montgomery County is stepping into their second century of service with a major upgrade in the way they feed their neighbors.

The Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard, which was founded in 1973, recently cut a ribbon to recognize their renovation as a "full choice" pantry. Now, guests can walk through and select items with a grocery-store-style experience instead of volunteers bagging items off a list for them.

The renovation was made possible in part by relocating their clothing boutique to a building next door.

Watch the video above to see what this food pantry means to local residents.
