Police officer partners up with facility dog at University of Delaware

NEWARK, Delaware (WPVI) -- Corporal Jamel Howard and the yellow Labrador, Patti, make the perfect team to uplift the campus community at the University of Delaware.

Patti was trained by the program, Puppies Behind Bars, which is based out of New York. Through it, incarcerated individuals helped teach Patti dozens of commands.

Cpl. Howard was able to learn all about Patti from her trainers.

Now, the 1-year-old pup goes to work with Howard and goes home with him at the end of the day.

In between, they attend various community events and visit facilities such as schools and daycares.

To learn more, watch the video above and visit the University of Delaware website.
