Tower Health plans to lay off more than 100 workers at Pottstown Hospital

POTTSTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Tower Health is planning to lay off more than 100 workers at Pottstown Hospital in Montgomery County.

The Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals says it's concerned about the job cuts.

One hundred sixty workers are expected to receive a pink slip.

It's the second significant layoff in seven months.

In a statement, Tower Health, which owns Pottstown Hospital, said the cuts are part of a multi-million-dollar investment "to expand the emergency department."
