Powdered alcohol hasn't been approved for sale in Pennsylvania and local lawmakers want to make sure that doesn't happen.

Powdered alcohol was the topic of discussion for several Pennsylvania state lawmakers on Thursday.

The State Senate Democratic Policy committee held a roundtable talk at Temple University on the product, also known as "Palcohol."

Right now, it's distributed out of Arizona.

It has yet to be approved for sale in Pennsylvania and local lawmakers want to make sure that doesn't happen.

"The last thing we need is powdered alcohol. You're talking about a powdered substance that you can put into a packet and just dump into some water and maybe not even dump into water. I can envision people getting packets of this powdered alcohol and just throwing it down their throats and that's what we're concerned about," said State Senator Lisa Boscola.

Officials also said they're worried powdered alcohol is too easily marketed to young adults, and children.
