Vote scheduled in Rehoboth Beach vacation pools & hot tub ban

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (WPVI) -- Rehoboth City Commissioners are expected to vote Friday on whether to ban use of pools and hot tubs at rental properties in the city.

Several pool proposals are up for discussion, including a pool ban.

If approved, it would force owners of rental properties to cover and lock pools and hot tubs while the property is occupied by vacationers.

The proposal stems from an increase of noise complaints around the popular beach community.

However, those who oppose the ban say it will drive away visitors and greatly impact businesses who depend on the summer season's big profits.

A moratorium banning all new pool construction went into effect back in October.
