Man struck by car near Saint Joseph's University

WYNNEFIELD (WPVI) -- A pedestrian is hospitalized after being struck by a car in Philadelphia's Wynnefield section.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday along 54th Street near Saint Joseph's University.

Police say a man was struck by a car which remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was rushed by medics to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for care.

Police are investigating.

At this time, police say they have no reason to believe the pedestrian was a student.
