PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Just a couple days after his trade was announced, now former Flyers left wing Scott Hartnell, packed up his things to head to Columbus.

He said goodbye to his former Flyers teammates on Wednesday before hitting the road.

Hartnell still can't believe he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for RJ Umberger and a fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft.

The news came on Monday and he says it's been a very emotional few days

"I don't know if it totally sunk in yet. I was surprised, shocked and angry the first few days. I don't want to leave, I'm comfortable here, this is my home," he said.

What's most upsetting, he says, was not being able to bring home a Stanley Cup. Hartnell told that to new Flyers GM Ron Hextall, after the deal went through.

"I feel like I let the city down a little bit, I let myself down and the guys. We didn't win the Stanley Cup and that's why you play the game. It's a silly way to feel but in my heart it's disappointing," he said.

At the end of the day Hartnell says he waived his no move clause to play for a team that wants him.

However for old times' sake, before hitting the road, Hartnell had one last workout at the Flyers facility.

It's the place he's called home for the last seven seasons and he admitted it was a little strange walking through those doors.

"It was definitely tough coming in here, spent a lot of laughs, a lot of great memories, blood, sweat and tears with the guys," said Hartnell.

Next time he comes back with the Blue Jackets in November, he's just hoping he doesn't get booed.
