Suspect sexually assaulted girls in 2 NJ counties, police say

PERTH AMBOY, N.J. (WPVI) -- A North Jersey man is behind bars, charged with sexually assaulting girls in Ocean and Middlesex Counties.

42-year-old Fernando Madrigal was arrested Wednesday morning at his home in Perth Amboy.

Prosecutors say Madrigal sexually assaulted two girls, ages 11 and 14, and that both victims knew their attacker.

Madrigal is charged with sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors say additional charges have been filed against Madrigal for an alleged assault on a minor in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County.

Madrigal remains behind bars in Middlesex County in lieu of $570,000 bail.
