This week's winner: Animal Outreach of Cape May County.

CAPE MAY COUNTY, N.J. (WPVI) -- This week, we shine our Shelter Me spotlight on Animal Outreach of Cape May County.

Spunky is just one of the cats waiting to find their forever home at Animal Outreach.

"Our mission is to provide love, care and shelter for the unwanted and abused animals of Cape May County," says Shelley Van Dyke, vice president of the group's Board of Directors.

Animal Outreach started its work in 1998.

"It's just a real sense of community support," said Van Dyke.

That support has led to a solid core of volunteers, a new location that opened in 2012 and partnerships that have made them a resource for the county.

While the cats can roam freely at Animal Outreach, the group also keeps the dogs of Cape May in mind.

"We showcase the dogs that are available at the Cape May County Animal Shelter," said Van Dyke.

Pups like Ginny, an affectionate Scotty mix.

"She's 2 years old. She was picked up as a stray, and she's good with kids and cats," said Van Dyke.

And Ruby is a 5-year old who needs a lot of attention but loves every second of it.

Since moving into their new location, Animal Outreach has adopted more than 250 cats.

But Maurice, a silver and white tiger who came from the county shelter, still needs a forever family.

Nibbles is a 9-month old beauty, and Mittens is 9-month-old survivor. She was born a stray and has plenty of love to give.
