Man, 21, shot and killed in front of his father in Logan

LOGAN (WPVI) -- Police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a 21-year-old man in front of the victim's own father.

It happened at 11:15 p.m. Sunday in the Logan section of Philadelphia.

Police received multiple 911 calls, and when officers arrived at the intersection of Wingohocking and Lawrence Streets they found the victim lying unconscious in the street.

He had been shot in the face.

Investigators say after the shooting, the victim's father began chasing the gunman down the block.

The suspect turned and opened fire on the man, missing him.

The gunman then jumped into a black Toyota and fled south on 4th Street.

Police told Action News they believe the shooting was not a random act, and that the victim was shot at point-blank range.

"We believe that the 21-year-old was an intended target," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. "Right where the 21-year-old victim collapsed after being shot in the face, we found a spent

shell casing just feet from his body."

Police were checking area businesses for surveillance video.
