Amazon expects to shatter its own Cyber Monday sales records

They are gearing up for the Cyber Monday rush at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Robbinsville, Mercer County.

ROBBINSVILLE, N.J. (WPVI) -- They are gearing up for the Cyber Monday rush at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Robbinsville. NJ.

Cyber Monday is a huge day for the online retailer, and the facility in Mercer County is one of the company's busiest in the nation.

More than 4,000 employees pick, pack and ship orders in the 1-million-square-foot Fulfillment Center, which boasts 14 miles of conveyor belts and robotic technology.

Thousands of seasonal workers are supplementing the company's work force this holiday season.

"Cyber Monday is our busiest day of the year," said Amazon spokesman Scott Stanzel. "Last year it was our busiest day of all time, and we expect today to break all those records."

Last year on Cyber Monday, Amazon customers ordered 500 items per second. That's 43 million items that day alone.
