NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- A Delaware hero just received one of the military's highest honors for protecting his fellow troops overseas.
The Air National Guard awarded Major Devin Tomaseski with his third Bronze Star medal Friday morning at the Airlift Wing headquarters in New Castle.
He distinguished himself with exceptional service in Afghanistan, where he was in charge of a task force that located and disarmed improvised explosive devices.
His superiors say his work helped fight one of the greatest threats to American troops.
Major Tomaseski said his medal wouldn't be possible without his team.
He says, "I had a great bunch of guys who would go above and beyond and do the dangerous jobs. They would go out there, and that's what they loved to do."
Major Tomaseski has deployed six times over 15 years with other tours of duty in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Germany and Korea.
