SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Action News has learned the identity of the driver killed when his car slammed into a utility pole in South Philadelphia.
It happened on the southbound side of Delaware Avenue, just north of Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
The driver was identified as 32-year-old Charles Gibson.
Police say he lost control before his vehicle struck the pole.
Gibson is the son of Senator Vincent Hughes' chief of staff Marcella Daniels. He was described as well-like with a lot of friends,
Senator Hughes' office said this is a very emotional time for the family.
As for the cause of the crash, it remains under investigation.
