PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Phillies have hired Rob Thomson as bench coach.

Thomson spent the last 10 seasons with the New York Yankees as bench coach (2008; 2015-17) and third base coach (2009-14). The move was announced Tuesday.

The 54-year-old Thomson served 28 seasons with the Yankees as a minor league coach, manager, field coordinator, director of player development and vice president of minor league development.
