One of the key players for the Villanova Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament has been forward Kris Jenkins.
Jenkins has been Villanova's lead scorer the last two months. His brother plays for North Carolina.
Action News' Jeff Skversky spoke to Jenkins prior to Monday night's National Championship.
Jeff: Kris, to be here, one win away from a national championship, what is your mindset going into this game against North Carolina?
Kris: It's the mindset that we take in every game, accept coaching, be prepared, be focused, just go out there and execute our defensive game plan.
Jeff: You talk about defense, but the offense has been unbelievable. The best shooting percentage since 1985 in a tournament up to this point. Are you surprised you guys are shooting this well?
Kris: Not surprised. It's amazing when you focus in on other things, certain things pop up that you never really think of. We never thought we'd shoot the ball this well. We were all so focused on defense.
Jeff: Describe the feeling, in your mind I know you've built it up probably since you were a little kid, if that confetti comes down, you're cutting down the nets, and you win a Final Four.
Kris: I'd be so happy for our group of seniors because they've given so much to our program, but we're not looking ahead to that. We're taking it one second at a time, one minute at a time in preparation to get ready to go.
Jeff: Good luck against North Carolina.
Kris: Thank you.
