Officials described the conditions inside as unsanitary and unsafe. They said the refrigerator was padlocked and there were feces on the floor.
During the investigation, police say it was found that none of the seven children had attended school and lacked basic knowledge. Several of them didn't know their birthday.
The medical examiner stated that the girl's death was consistent with her having been locked in a room for more than three days.
An investigation revealed that the victim had been in the care of her grandmother Jazmine Rodriguez, her grandfather Manuel Rodriguez Sr., and her uncle Manuel Rodriguez Jr.
