Crime Fighters: $20,000 reward offered in murder of Tammy Pierce

KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- It's been 20 years since the murder of Tammy Pierce. Her family says the years have not been kind.

"Tammy used to come over to my house and take my youngest son Travis out," said Barbara Sodul Pierce, sister. "Take him to the playground because I had four kids myself.

"I just feel like we need closure. We need some kind of closure for her, for my mom, for actually her daughter, we need closure," said Joann Hager, sister. "She did not deserve this."

The body of the 28-year-old was found in April 1996 at Ruth and Tusculum streets in Philadelphia's Kensington section.

Pierce was the one who had to ID the body.

"It was horrible. It's the worst place anybody has to go see to identify someone," said Pierce.

Tammy's sisters know that a lot of time has passed, but they are still hopeful that someone knows something.

"I just want somebody if anybody knows anything out there to please come forward," said Pierce.

The City of Philadelphia is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

Tammy's daughter was just 10 years old at the time of her mother's death.

"I know she misses her mom, we miss her, her sisters, we all miss her," said Hager.
