Police say a 17-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Edgemoor, Delaware Monday morning.

EDGEMOOR, Del. (WPVI) -- Police say a teenager was struck by a vehicle in Edgemoor, Delaware Monday morning.

The accident happened at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Edgemoor and Denny Roads.

According to police, 17-year-old Joshua Melendez of Wilmington had just exited from a DART bus and attempted to cross the roadway to catch a second bus when he was struck.

Melendez was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was cited by troopers for failure to yield the right of way to a motor vehicle.

The driver in the striking vehicle did stop at the scene.
