PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 7-year-old was among the record breaking 2,500 bicyclists headed to the Jersey Shore for the 29th annual Irish Pub Tour de Shore.

The riders started their 65-mile journey with the demanding trek over the Ben Franklin Bridge Sunday morning.

7-year-old Skylar Goose Hunter is the youngest rider to ever try to make the trip.

And he knew how fast he had to bike to get to Atlantic City by the 1:30 p.m. time limit.

"Going 11 miles per hour that will give you about eight minutes to stop...it'll work out," Skylar said.

Skylar completed a 58-mile ride in May.

The event hopes to raise $1 million for programs in the Delaware Valley for children in need and the families of fallen first responders.

The event is sponsored by the Irish Pub and Inn in Atlantic City.
