Pa. Turnpike reopens after tractor trailer crash in Bensalem

BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- The Pennsylvania Turnpike has reopened after a jackknifed tractor trailer caused a portion of the highway in Bensalem, Bucks County to close on Thursday.

The accident occurred around 10:50 a.m.

The cab of the tractor trailer was partially hanging off the roadway above the Neshaminy Creek for over two hours before crews managed to remove it just before 1:00 p.m.

The driver was able to exit the truck. The driver's condition has not been released.

Officials say a saddle tank ruptured on the tractor trailer which led to fuel leaking into the creek.

Local fire departments were on the ground trying to contain the leak.

The Pennsylvania Environmental Protection Agency dispatched a private company to clean up the oil mess. They do not foresee any major environmental impact from the spill.
