The popular ride sharing service Uber is responding to claims that a driver kidnapped a woman for two hours in California.

The woman's phone shows the 26 mile route the driver took instead of taking her to her address.

She said the driver ignored her questions and eventually took her to an abandoned parking lot, where she screamed until he took her home.

The next day her complaint to Uber was answered with an "automated" email apologizing for the "inefficient route."

Uber says the allegations are inaccurate.

The company says the driver actually called 911 to report a heavily intoxicated passenger who asked him to drive her around town.

The woman has hired an attorney while the LAPD investigates.
