Wawa robbed at gunpoint in Northeast Philadelphia

Police are looking for an armed suspect who robbed a Wawa in Northeast Philadelphia on August 23.

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for an armed suspect who robbed a Wawa store in Northeast Philadelphia.

The incident occurred on August 23 at the Wawa on the 800 block of Cottman Avenue.

Police say the suspect approached the counter around 2:30 a m. to purchase a few small pieces of loose candy.

As the employee opened the register, the man pulled out a small black semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash.

He got away with $150 from the register before fleeing the store and was last seen running north on the 7300 block of Rockwell Avenue.

There were no reports of any injuries during the robbery.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male with a light complexion, late 20s to early 30s and 6'0" tall with a goatee. He was wearing black cargo shorts, white short-sleeve t shirt and a black baseball type cap with a Philadelphia Eagles logo on the front and armed with a handgun.
