Officials with the World Meeting of Families launched a call for volunteers on Monday.

PHILADELPHIA -- Officials with the World Meeting of Families launched the registration for volunteers on Monday.

They expect the need some 10,000 people to staff various events during the week, which includes a visit from Pope Francis.

Volunteers must be 18 years old and will be subject to screenings.

"Today is about the time and the talent that we need, and so many people have offered, to make this moment the most successful it can be for Philadelphia," said Donna Farrel, the Executive Director of the World Meeting of Families.

Volunteers will participate in training throughout the summer.

The World Meeting of Families begins on September 22nd.

Two to three million people are expected to converge on Philadelphia for the event.
