First, phony-dough plea, then fire

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (AP) - March 28, 2008

Ardsley Fire Chief Rick Thompson says Thursday's blaze caused "a lot of destruction" at the Brick Oven Pizza Shop and Frankie's Homemade Ice Cream in Dobbs Ferry. He says the fire also damaged four upstairs apartments.

Thompson says an electrical problem may have sparked the fire, which apparently began in a ceiling shared by the two businesses.

Owner Frank Donato says he doesn't know what happened.

Donato pleaded guilty March 19 to one count of forgery. He admitted making $50 bills in an office behind the pizza oven.

He has been promised a sentence of five years' probation.
