A Delaware man threatening to commit suicide is dead after getting involved in a shootout with state police.
It happened just before 8:30 last night on the 30000 block of River Road, in Millsboro.
Investigators say the 58 year old man slit a wrist, then hid in a shed behind his house.
During this time police received a 911 call that the man was threatening to commit suicide.
When officers arrived , they say the man came out of the shed with a gun in his hand and started yelling at them.
Officers tried to talk the man into dropping the gun, but instead he opened fire on them. Police returned fire, killing the man.
The officers were not injured.
