Penn police chase down car after murder

University of Pennsylvania police along with Philadelphia Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man overnight at 40th and Market Street in West Philadelphia. Penn officers reported gunfire in the area of 40th and Market Streets around 1:10 a.m. and went to investigate, where they discovered a man down on the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The victim, later identified as 26-year-old Nathaniel Crawford, was transported over to HUP where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Penn police also noticed a vehicle speeding from the scene and gave chase. They were able to pull the vehicle over at 38th and Samson Streets, taking at least one person into custody along with the recovery of a gun thrown from the vehicle.

Homicide detectives are talking to several suspects, however no arrests have been made.
