The contestant, identified only as a 52-year-old West Windsor man, was reported missing by his fiancee shortly after the event at Mercer County Park had concluded on Sunday afternoon.
Divers then searched the lake for several hours but did not find the body. They plan to resume the search on Monday.
Officials said the man was competing in the sprint distance division, a shorter triathlon that included a 500-meter swim, an 11.5 mile bike ride and a 5 kilometer run.
