Palin may get "mavericky" on Tina Fey

October 7, 2008 Tina Fey, the Upper Darby native, former head writer of SNL, actress, comedian, and Palin look-alike, has been getting rave reviews for her dead-on impersonation of the Alaska governor. Not just resting on her God-given similar appearance (glasses, hair, facial features and all), Fey has gotten imitating Palin's speaking style and physical gesturing down to an exact science.

Fey's parodies on SNL have coincided with Palin's falling out of favor with some members of the electorate, and her own party. However, the Republican's performance in the vice presidential debate seemed to ease those concerns.

According to the Sun-Times, Palin has suggested fighting fire with fire - and delivering a return punch to Fey (and her detractors) on the show itself.

The Sun-Times also says McCain campaign staffers are debating whether this is a good idea. If Palin garners some laughs, would it help her in the polls - or become more fodder for her critics? And what if she isn't funny at all?

Finally, the Sun-Times says what is being proposed is a parody of an American Express commercial featuring Fey. In the ad, Fey desperately tries to get access to an airport lounge to meet with Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese.
