The roomy storefront on East Marlton Pike is full of similar bargains.
Most of the inventory here is consigned by homeowners who are moving or redecorating. The prices are 1/3 to 1/2 of new retail. The consigners get 40%. The store keeps 60%.
Other pieces at the Consignment Furniture Gallery are brand-new.
Owner Jeffrey Cofsky explains that he buys new items that are close-outs or discontinued lines from furniture retailers, and then discounts them.
For example, he bought 15 black leather chairs that retailed for $399. He's selling them for $199 each.
He adds that inventory turns over quickly, with the average item selling in about a week-and-a-half.
If consigned items remain on the floor for 60 days, they are discounted some more, about 10% each week.
The store is open seven days a week and consignments are accepted every day. Potential consigners can email furniture photos into the store for estimates. And the store will pick up from consigners' houses.
