Here are some of the good deals on meat, poultry and fish.
There are a number of deals on London broil at various stores. This can be a tougher cut, but if you marinate it prior to roasting, it can be quite good. Acme has Lancaster Brand premium beef top round for $3.99. At Pathmark, boneless black angus beef top round is $2.99. And at Superfresh, Gold angus top round or sirloin tip is $4.99 a pound, while the USDA choice top round is Buy One, Get One Free.
Other deals on beef include Genuardi's Rancher's Reserve boneless beef top sirloin steak or beef chuck for $3.99 a pound. ShopRite has bottom round roast for just $1.79 a pound and eye round for $2.79. Giant has eye round roasts Buy One, Get One Free.
Deals on pork this week includeHatfield pork tenderloins, Buy One, Get One Free at Acme. Genuardi's has the same deal on Smithfield pork tenderloins. And they also have boneless pork sirloin roast for $2.99 a pound and country-style shoulder ribs for $1.49 a pound. Pathmark has rib or loin end pork chops for $1.99 a pound and center cut pork chops for $2.99 a pound. At ShopRite, the boneless center cut pork chops are $2.49 a pound and whole boneless pork loin is $1.99 a pound.
In the poultry department, it's time to get ready for Thanksgiving. Pathmark is selling Riverside or store brand frozen turkeys for $.59 a pound, while Genuardi's has Butterball frozen turkeys for $.69 a pound. Acme is taking 50% off the price of all Lancaster brand and Perdue chicken breasts. And ShopRite has taken 40% off the price of all Perdue poultry. At Giant, Perdue oven-stuffer roasters are $.99 a pound.
Produce
For a taste of summer as the weather gets cooler, you can pick up a five-pound box of Florida tangerines. At Pathmark, they're selling for $3.99 and at ShopRite, they're $4.99.
Apples are on sale at several stores as well. Superfresh has extra-large Red Delicious apples for $1.50 a pound. That's the same price you'll pay at Genuardi's for Gala or McIntosh apples. At Giant, Gala apples are $.99 a pound. Pathmark has Washington State red or golden delicious for $1.49 a pound.
Organic D'Anjou pears are $.99 a pound at Genuardi's. ShopRite has both broccoli crowns and green squash for $.99 a pound and one-pound bags of carrots are $.79. At Acme, grapefruit are $1 each. At Pathmark, you can get a pound of yams for $.88, while at Giant, they're $.89. At Superfresh, Hass avocados are $1.
Dairy
Sour cream is on sale at a number of stores. Perhaps the best deal is a 32-ounce carton of store brand sour cream for $2.29. Acme has 16-ounce containers of Daisy three for $5 and ShopRite has the same size Penn Maid brand for $1.19. Keller's butter is $1.97 at ShopRite and America's Choice butter is $2 at Pathmark. Pathmark also has LaYogurt and Penn Maid kids' yogurts on sale for $.50 each.
Canned, Prepared and Frozen Food
Acme has Green Giant canned vegetables on sale at a great stock-up price: 12 for $5.99. Superfresh has DelMonte canned vegetables four for $3. Progresso soups are on sale Buy One, Get One Free at Acme and for $1 a can at SuperFresh. Campbell's chunky soups are four for $6 at Acme. Marie Callendar entrees are $2 at both Genuardi's and SuperFresh. SuperFresh is offering Healty Choice entrees at the same price. And at Pathmark, Lean Cuisine entrees are on sale for just $1.88. Pathmark also Chicken of the Sea white tuna for $1 a can. At ShopRite, you can put together a quick and inexpensive meal with their deals on Tuttorosso pasta sauce, which is selling for $.99 for a 36-ounce jar, and Italian Village pasta, which is just $.99 for a 13-ounce package. If you stop by Acme, you can add a 9.6-ounce package of Prima Familia meatballs. They're selling Buy One, Get Two free. Finally, both Superfresh and Pathmark are selling Birds Eye boxed vegetables for $1 each.
Beverages
12-packs of Pepsi cans are on sale at several stores. At Pepsi, they're five for $14, but you must buy five. At Superfresh, three 12-packs are $8.09 and at Pathmark, they're three for $11. Genuardi's has 12-packs of 7-Up, Sunkist or Canada Dry selling for three for $10. Coke two-liter bottles are Buy Three, Get Three Free at Genuardi's and $.88 each at Pathmark. Superfresh has Gatorade on sale for 12 for $10.99.
Desserts
Here's the yummy stuff. Hunt's Snack-Pack puddings are on sale at ShopRite, Pathmark and Acme for $1 each. Acme also has Tastykake family packs on sale two for $5. Both Superfresh and Genuardi's have Oreos on sale for $2.50 while ShopRite has Vienna fingers for the same price. As for ice cream, ShopRite has Breyer's for $2.74 a carton and SuperFresh has Edy's for $3 a carton.
