Police say a 55-year-old man got into a dispute with his father.
During the argument, the 55-year-old fired at least one shot, striking the gas meter.
That resulted in a gas leak that ultimately forced the temporary evacuation of approximately a dozen homes in the development.
The gas company responded and shut down gas to the property.
Negotiators were called in to apprehend the man and at around 8:30 p.m., the man surrendered from the home.
He is now in police custody.
There is no word yet what if the man will be charged.
The displaced residents were allowed back into their homes shortly before 9:00 p.m.
