Arriving firefighters found flames shooting from the 3-story complex and quickly went to work battling the blaze. A second alarm was struck within minutes.
Crews were able to bring the flames under control.
The whole building was evacuated at the time of the fire. However, officials hope to allow about half of the building back into their apartments shortly.
According to the Bayview Fire Chief, 6 units were damaged during the blaze - two were completely destroyed.
There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
