Del. teen stabbed while walking with friend

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - February 19, 2009 It happened Tuesday evening as the teens walked in the 100 block of Franklin Street.

The teen told police that a man in a dark hooded sweat shirt and jeans approached them and asked for a light. The two teens told the stranger they had no matches and kept walking.

But Master Sgt. Steven Barnes says the stranger came up from behind and stabbed one of them in the abdomen, then ran. The teens ran home and called police.

New Castle County paramedics say the teen was admitted to Christiana Hospital in serious condition.
