Easter candy for children of all ages

April 9, 2009 We're talking about those chocolaty, sugary bundles of sweets that will fill Easter baskets of children all over the world.

You can bet, many of those candy treasures were made in our region.

Tony Walter and his mother Midge, owners of Lore's Chocolates, are accustomed to the nearly constant crowds at their store a few days before Easter.

Tony says that's not unlike other holidays, but with Easter, there is a difference.

"I like Easter, springtime, Easter eggs, people help themselves; they're happy. The weather's nice. The pressure's not there," Tony said.

For most, it is the tradition that keeps them coming here and the candy.

For Federal Court Clerk, Michael Kunz, it's been four decades.

"I was just reminiscing; I used to buy my four daughters their Easter eggs here, now they're grown and now I have seven grandchildren," Kunz said.

At Lore's, just about anything you think of is made of, filled with, or covered in chocolate.

Of course, the Easter candy is for kids of all ages.

With last-minute shoppers, there's always the possibility your favorite is sold out, but it's worth taking a look.

But the very best thing about being in a store like this just before Easter is the sample tray.
