2 rescues needed for injured fisherman off NJ

CAPE MAY, N.J. (AP) - April 12, 2009 Authorities say 46-year Fon Chau was inside a rescue basket that was being hoisted up to a helicopter late Saturday night when a cable snapped. That caused the basket to drop about 10 feet into the ocean waters, about 55 miles off Cape May.

The Coast Guard crew, though, was quickly able to re-splice the broken cable and get Chau into the helicopter, and he did not sustain any further injuries.

Chau - who had broken his leg aboard the Cape May-based Andy Two - was flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, where he was treated for his injury.
