PHILADELPHIA - April 29, 2009 Amtrak has been moving some trains between Baltimore and
Washington after a Wednesday morning water main break north of the
Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport
station halted service.
However, Public Works spokesman Kurt Kocher said Wednesday that
major delays are expected for trains south of Baltimore until
sometime Friday while the 36-inch pipe is replaced Thursday.
Kocher says this type of main installed in the 1970s is
notorious for defects.
Southwest Baltimore County, Howard County and southwest
Baltimore residents are being asked to conserve water.
