Victim identified in fatal hit-and-run

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - May 8, 2009- And as 6abc.com reported first, they now know who the victim is.

Calvin Weston saw the news report and immediately thought of his son 18-year-old Calvin Wilkerson.

He called the medical examiner's office and late Friday, he got the news he feared most, Calvin was the victim of the hit and run at 9th Street and the Boulevard.

Calvin was a senior at De La Salle and he went by his middle name Dominique.

He had been having dinner with his cousins and his aunt just hours before he died.

Dominique had ridden his bike, but because of the rain, he took the bus home.

He was just steps from the bus stop and a few blocks from his home when he stepped into the path of a minivan.

Police may have found that van in the city's Mayfair section this afternoon. The front end damage is consistent with evidence found at the scene.

Calvin Weston is a well known jazz drummer and has been preparing for an upcoming European tour. Now, he and Dominque's mother, Mildred Wilkerson, are making funeral arrangements.

Dominique would have celebrated 19th birthday this mother's day.

Finding the owner might be easy, but police have to prove who was behind the wheel
