On Monday Brooks turned herself in following a lengthy investigation involving her former employer, Christiana Properties. Police were contacted in September by Christiana Properties who suspected Brooks of altering monthly rental payments. After an internal investigation the company believed Brooks had taken approximately $10,000 since the summer of 2007.
Through months of investigation detectives learned the length and the amount of money had far exceeded what was originally believed. The investigation led to the discovery of hundreds of money orders, totaling over $46,000 were deposited into the personal bank account of Brooks.
Brooks was arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
