Apartment fire injures 2

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - May 22, 2009

The fire broke out about 11:50 p.m. Thursday in a three-story semidetached apartment building in the 100 block of West 30th Street.

The fire was contained to the second-floor room where it started, but there was smoke and heat damage to the second floor.

The seven people in the building at the time were able to get out on their own, but the mother and 4-year-old girl who lived on the second-floor were taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries.

The Wilmington Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
