Bug bombs cause apartment explosion

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. (AP) - June 23, 2009

Fire officials in suburban Sacramento, Calif., blame an apartment explosion on insect foggers.

Authorities report a tenant set off 10 cans of roach spray.

That's five to 10 times the recommended amount.

Investigators suspect electricity from a refrigerator detonated the cloud of bug spray.

The blast was so powerful, some of the complex's load-bearing walls were blown out.

The entire building in Citrus Heights has been condemned, forcing three families to move.
