NJ surgeon accused of bilking insurers

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - July 14, 2009 Dr. Khashayar Salartash of Linwood, his office manager and The Center for Lymphatic Disorders, which the doctor owned, are charged with conspiracy, health care claims fraud and Medicaid fraud.

State prosecutors allege the doctor and his office manager billed insurers for services that were not provided as claimed over a nearly five-year period.

Prosecutors say the pair also billed for surgery when only physical therapy services were provided.

Jerome Ballarotto, a lawyer for Salartash, said his client is innocent and followed insurance procedures "to a T."
